What's In a Name?

I have marked and dated in the front of my Bible, " I study the Bible for more of Jesus, who splits rocks in the wilderness. He is the reason for my worship. I don't just study the Bible for more wisdom or knowledge or even to have the right the answers. I study the Bible to know Him and to see Him working in me and through me.  In Him, is hidden all wisdom and knowledge. He is before all things and in Him all things are held together. Jesus, The Word of God." Dated 3/11/12

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.  John 1:1-3

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called, The Word of God.  From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "King of Kings and Lord of Lords." Revelation 19:11-16

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was Jesus, He created all things and in Him all things hold together. When He returns He will be called the Word of God. Jesus is and was the Word in the flesh. He came to earth to dwell among us to reveal to us the truth. What is the Truth? It is the infallible Word of God. The Word that was with God in the beginning. The Word that will be the defeat of the nations when He comes again in great glory. The Word that is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
The Word, no creature is hidden but exposed to His sight, all things laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Hebrews 4:13 We don’t read the Word of God, it reads us. It exposes our need for a Savior and rescuer outside of ourselves because it reveals the sin stained areas within us. It crushes us daily so that Christ can daily resurrect us and reassure us of His unfailing love for sinners and His victory over the power of death and the devil.
We never grow out of our need for Christ. We never move beyond His finished work. We will forever and always stand before the Father ONLY by His merit. We have been qualified, strengthened with power and rescued from the dominion of darkness and transferred to the kingdom of His beloved Son. We are to continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast and NOT MOVED away from the hope found in the Gospel, that Christ came to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. We proclaim Him, warning every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete IN Christ. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free; therefore standing firm and not submitting to a yoke of slavery.

The Word is referred to by Jesus and Isaiah as our Comforter, Helper, the Living Water that dwells within us and the Bread of Life that sustains us.
It is no wonder Satan does his best to distract me from God's Word. He tempts me to doubt it and compromise it by not proclaiming all of it. It's no wonder that in some churches today Truth is stumbling for we have turned aside the truth of God's Word and have attempted to slayed it with the carnal swords of unbelief, indifference, popularity and principles. It's no wonder that when I read His Word my flesh wages war with the Spirit- for no other word has the power to divide my innermost being and wage a war within myself.
Sanctification is not getting better and better and better and therefore needing Jesus less and less. It's growing deeper into Christ and His finished work. It's a daily submitting my flesh on the alter of His grace and reminding myself once again, I'm dead and no longer live but Christ IN me. I've already been given everything I need in Him so I don't need to secure for myself anything because in Him I already have everything I need. I'm free to serve, to die, to give and to love because now I'm truly free. Everything I do, I do for the praise and glory of another. Therefore, I'm to be an imitator of God, as a beloved child; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved me and gave Himself up for me, as an offering and sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Ephesians 5:2. I'm not to overlook the first part of this verse and jump to the second part. I'm God's BELOVED in Christ. I'm a fragrance of the knowledge of Him.  I'm a pleasing aroma of Christ to God, to those who are being saved and to those who are perishing.  2 Corinthians 2:14,15.
For He who is called Faithful and True is coming again and it is with the Word that He will slay the nations. Jesus is the Word of God. He is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. He is the One who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood- and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father - to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen Revelation 1:2-6
Lord, you are coming again in great glory. Sustain us with your mighty right hand as we eagerly wait for you. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit of the Lord would reveal to us. Revive our hearts with the cooling waters of your Word.
Who is like you, O Lord, for you have called forth the generations from the beginning - You were with the first of them and you will be with the last of them - You are the Great I AM Isaiah 41:4

He is the image of the invisible God the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created both in the heavens and on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15-17
